    It’s amazing how well some of these songs have held up. As a jazz pianist I play All of Me, I Surrender Dear, Just Friends, and Out of Nowwhere (also know Take My Sugar to Tea) and there is always something fresh to do with them. They do not sound dated in the least.

    Will we be able to say the same of Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face?”

      Hi Keith, Yes, the material has longevity and is open to unlimited interpretation. One of my chief complaints about popular music of the last 20-30 years is that little of it seems to have any lasting value. They ride a trend which will be over in 6 months or whatever the current turnover rate is. Gaga’s Poker Face, which I was blissfully unaware of until you mentioned it, is run-of-the-mill dance music with a vaguely provocative video. I believe it might resurface as a curiosity of the year 2008 one day. — doc
