Pirate Party on Catalina Isle (1935)


The 1935 short film Pirate Party on Catalina Isle, filmed in Technicolor, features cameo appearances by such Hollywood stars and future stars as Marion Davies, Erroll Flynn, Cary Grant, Randolph Scott, Mickey Rooney. Other songs used in the film’s production numbers include Avalon, The Gold Diggers’ Song (We’re in the Money), (We’re Gonna Have) Smooth Sailing, and Twelfth Street Rag.

The Gold Diggers’ Song (We’re in the Money) (m. Harry Warren, w. Al Dubin)

The song was introduced by Ginger Rogers and chorus in Gold Diggers of 1933. In 1935, it was one of several songs used in Pirate Party on Catalina Isle where it is sung by an unidentified male vocal group, with dancing by The Fanchonettes.
