page index, drop-down (814 pages)
_______________________________
The great majority of the site resides in its pages. Posts are usually notices of new, updated, or revised pages, and are typically deleted within a year or so after being published. There are 814 published pages as of 21 March 2022. I have attempted to categorize each included song by the year in which it was written. In cases where that date hasn’t been confidently identified, the copyright year is used. So, for example, a feature page titled “1935 selected standards” would include only songs written or copyrighted in that year. If a lyric was added in a later year, and the song’s most familiar form incorporates that lyric, then my policy is to use the year of that lyric addition to date the song. “My Prayer” is a good example of this.
The following categorical site index is an alternate index which might be more appropriate than the complete page index for browsing the site by specific categories. The relatively few posts retained may be seen in reverse chronological order on the first two or three pages of the site, at Songbook1.WordPress.com.

This index is updated immediately when pages are added, removed, or titles rearranged or modified because it displays the entire present page hierarchy using a WordPress shortcode. I’m using the most basic WordPress list pages shortcode.
