Let There Be Love

Let There Be Love (m. Lionel Rand, w. Ian Grant) – I have yet to find any information about this pair of songwriters other than each of them is known only for this song. Discogs.com, for example, lists many albums on which work buy Lionel Rand appears, all of them containing various versions of Let There Be Love. No bios or articles yet found on either of them.

Nat King Cole-6

Nat King Cole –  Judging by the stage set and Cole’s attire, this clip seems to be from the BBC Special An Evening With Nat King Cole, but I haven’t found a set list. Instrumental accompaniment by the Ted Heath Orchestra. The date of that program is in question. IMDb gives a release date of 21 September 1963 (UK), but about the broadcast date a Youtube provider (gazsirodoki) says:

The BBC Television made a TV special with Nat King Cole in England in April or May, in 1962, not in 1961 as it’s written on the back of the dvd box. This is the well known colorized version which was released on dvd in 1995 and a few years later again.

At about 1:43 Cole says, in reference to the mellow arrangement or his piano style, I guess, “George [Shearing] stole this from me.”
