16 Sep 1936 — Left to right Judy Garland, Patricia Palmer and Deanna Durbin. Within a week they bob into the limelight. Judy, ie, “steals: the picture “Pigskin Parade” and back from her home in Brooklyn to begin her career as a writer, although she’s just 10; and Deanna, in Hollywood musical productions and on the Eddie Cantor radio program, gets a call to New York for Metropolitan Opera auditions and she’s not reached her 14th birthday. The photograph as taken at MGM’s lot, as Patricia is welcomed from the airport. — Image by © Bettmann/CORBIS
