According to Boswell Sisters discographer Guy McAfee, this is one of a group of four recordings in the first issued set (on a 16 inch disc) of broadcast transcription recordings of the Boswell Sisters. One previous set of 1930 broadcast transcriptions was not issued. No session date is given for most of the 1930 recordings, including this one.

The Boswell sisters were the best. The Andrew Sisters, Bette Midler, and Ella Fitzgerald were influenced by them.

Well, I don’t. I originally included this song in the first of my Boswell Sisters pages, Boswell Sisters: profile and selected recordings of 1925 & 1930, constructed back in January 2010. Not sure when I added the words, but it was no later than 16 May 2010, when this page was published. Hadn’t been able to find the words online, so I transcribed the lyric myself by playing the video repeatedly and listening. I haven’t heard any versions with alternate words. In fact, while I think I might have found a live cover a year or two ago in video library searches, presently I don’t find any covers except the following:
“I’m in Training for You” The Stolen Sweets, with live drums by video provider flob234 (video added 15 November 2016)
The words sung by this group vary only slightly from those sung by the Boswell Sisters in their 1930 recording. They also sing them so clearly that I was able to correct one line of my transcription that I always doubted the accuracy of. I didn’t have the phrase “love’s a game” until I heard the cover by The Stolen Sweets.
Regarding alternate verses: Anyone with the requisite talent could write up new sets of words to go along with the music, though to do so publicly or commercially without acquiring permission from the copyright holder might be considered infringement. Parodies that include small portions of the original lyric may be allowed without permission.
